I've been writing a semi-post-apocalyptic noir detective romance. It's titled "after the convergence" and has a dim view of life when there is no real privacy and sentient machines can follow you.
That's really not what this post is about.
Apparently Samsung has sort-of scooped my ideas with their new TV. The voice recognition comes on and listens to everything you say. Their advice is "Keep quiet." Fine. (apparently it also inserts adds into whatever you're watching, which is more than enough for me to avoid it.)
This is just one example of the kind of hardware that would make life difficult in 2050 or so when my semi-anti-hero, hero Alan Turning Blake (Yes, named for that Alan Turing in the hope it would bring him (the character) recognition in a world that is centrally dependent on computers.) is trying to find out who killed his partner, and more.
